Creating Connections Between People and Places

Hi, I’m Lysistrata “Lyssa” Cloud Hall, Founder and Principal of Cloud Hall Creative Solutions (CHCS) — an urban planning and design practice dedicated to creating flourishing, human-scaled places that connect people, nature, and community.

I’m an Arizona native, born and raised in Jerome, a hillside mining town where every street tells a story and every view reminds you how closely cities and landscapes intertwine. Growing up there shaped how I see the world — instilling a deep appreciation for both the resilience of nature and the complex beauty of urban life. That duality continues to guide my work: designing cities that protect what’s natural and enhance what’s human.

I’m deeply interested in why places are the way they are and how we can invite more people to shape the future of their neighborhoods. I believe the best ideas come from collaboration — from listening carefully, building trust, and transforming community insight into design that truly reflects local character and context.

Over the past two decades, I’ve partnered with developers, cities, nonprofits, residents, and local businesses to create more walkable, connected, and resilient communities. My work bridges disciplines — combining land use planning, urban design, landscape design, arboriculture, green infrastructure, public policy, and community engagement — to find solutions that are as practical as they are visionary.

Throughout my career, I’ve helped secure millions of dollars in grant funding, led multidisciplinary teams, and guided projects from early concept through implementation. Whether revitalizing downtown blocks, integrating green infrastructure into urban corridors, or reimagining public spaces to serve multiple community needs, my goal is always the same: to create places that feel alive, loved, and lasting.
